Commissioning Ceremony
Greetings to you all I am delighted to be here today to commission the new members to our Society. Would the new members please come forward Are you willing to serve as a member of a Conference of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul………………………..Yes (To be said by new members) As a Vincentian I want to serve in hope and to work with others to promote human dignity and justice through person to person contact with those in need. I wish to participate in the regular meetings and discussions and abide by the Society’s local decisions and the International Rule. In this way we will journey together towards holiness. Lord God, I ask for your grace to be faithful to this call. Amen (To be said by all) O God, life giving spirit of Love, we ask that you bless these new members of the Society. Give them, each in their own way, the passion for living and loving, the courage for daring and hoping, the capacity for giving and receiving, the tenderness for understanding and listening. May you always hold them in the palm of your hand, Amen Give out badges Congratulations to you all – and thank you for joining our organization. Let us all say together the following prayer of Dedication, this applies to you now you are members of the Society and is a renewal of dedication for our existing members ALMIGHTY GOD, our loving Father, We come before You this day/evening to renew our dedication and loyalty to You and to our founder Frederic Ozanam. We thank You for the many ways in which You have blessed the Society and its members over the year. We ask You to renew in us our commitment to St Vincent de Paul and Frederic Ozanam. We ask You to strengthen our fervor and deepen our resolve in this ministry of Love. We pledge, with confidence and determination to increase our service to those who are suffering. We pledge, in a spirit of justice and charity to help all in need regardless of creed, colour, caste or origin. We ask Your blessing on our efforts to unite us all, members of the Society and those we serve in a spirit of love and sharing. ALMIGHTY GOD, we dedicate ourselves as Vincentians to our founder Frederic Ozanam and pledge our love and loyalty to You by bearing witness to the love of Christ through serving His poor. AMEN
