Computer Project

Adopting a scheme that was started by the Hornby Conference in Christchurch and modifying it to suit the situation in Auckland a small group of young men, in some cases ex young Vinnies, attached to the St Therese Conference at Mangere have started a project aimed at ensuring that those pupils whose parents are unable to, or see no purpose in having a computer at home for school work are not disadvantaged. These young men, all either in the IT industry or well versed in its mysteries, clean and overhaul computers that have been given locally or through the ongoing support being given by the Hornby Conference. In doing this work the hope is that these children, by being given the tool, might make use of it to obtain a sound education that will lead ultimately to a successful and rewarding career in the workforce.
